Cordis Africa

African capital, Luxembourg structure.

We work with licensed local sponsors to give African investments an institutional structure, and we build the indices, data and family office tools that international investors have lacked.

Two ways to partner

Local knowledge and international structure rarely come together. Cordis Africa brings them together, on terms agreed in writing before anything starts.

Capital partner

Cordis sponsors a Luxembourg vehicle and provides the fund infrastructure around a local sponsor's pipeline: general partner, manager, depositary, administrator and reporting. Economics are set out in a term sheet agreed before the first deal.

Strategic partner

A local institution keeps its own vehicle and brand; Cordis provides structuring, governance, European distribution relationships and technology. The partnership is a contract. We do not take over the institution.

Every partnership depends on the local partner holding the licences its regulator requires. We check this before we start, not afterwards.

Indices for African markets

African equities are poorly covered by indices, and most of the indices that exist ignore currency, which is usually what matters most to a foreign investor. Cordis builds rules-based indices that take account of liquidity, disclosure and exchange-rate regimes, and licenses them to managers and product providers.

African families, European structures

Many African families and entrepreneurs hold assets in three or four countries, through structures set up at different times by different advisers. Atelier was designed for exactly this situation. It builds one map of everything owned, reconciled from the documents each provider sends.

For families establishing themselves in Europe, we assemble the Luxembourg structure, the administrators and the banking relationships, and we run the reporting.
